Savage precision target action tenon length

Well, I just got off the phone from Savage and first off they have no idea what I am talking about, so after I explain it to them they tell me "We cannot disclose that information over the phone, you will have to find it out yourself." So, here I am. I was referring to the precision target action. If anybody knows the tenon length can you please chime in here.

Be happy to help if I was sure what you wanted to know. Are you referring to the distance between the action screws?

They sell actions by themselves but won't share the specifications to help you chamber a barrel...sounds like you were talking to an un-knowledgeable employee. I'd call them back and escalate to managers until you find someone with a clue.

I looked around their website...no luck. Wish more companies would be like Kelblys and just publish the data for all to see.

Basically, I want to know how much thread is in the receiver. I emailed CZ and they emailed me back that it is about .645" Remington's run about .7" This means that .7" of barrel thread will fit into the action.

Has anybody ever used this action in a 6br? I know they sell the 6br f class and such but I was wondering if anybody used it themselves and put another barrel on it. Anything I should look out for or be aware of? Are they a good action to build on? Any cons to a RP LE?

Should you use the jam nut remember in selecting a barrel diameter that if you go larger you will have to turn that contoured shoulder off the jam nut. (Not a big deal, but it can leave you with exposed threads which some feel are unsightly.)
After this weekend I will be switching barrels and if you like I can give you the best measurement I can of the thread depth in the action. (Savage Target) 30BR coming off and 6BR going on again.
I am very pleased with the RBLE....very easy to get used to and seems more natural than RBRE

Not a Savage, but below is a round action, thin tang, recoil lugged, pillar bedded rifle in 6 BR and some results. Not too shabby for something with cheapo design features

I see you cannot let go of something and realize that people have personal preferences, you say tomato, I say tohmahto. I never said they wouldn't shoot, I just don't prefer the design. Obviously they work if people are shooting that well with them, however other actions can, and will, shoot just as well. You cannot disagree with the fact that it is cheaper to produce a round action versus a square action, or the fact that brazed on bolts are another way of cutting cost.

What you are really saying is you don't know anything about actions, have an irrational opinion, and are going to defend it with strawman arguments.

If you are on a budget, how come you don't like actions that have cost saving features?

In that case, buy a BAT or a Panda action, you will have a hard time finding better built actions and with features you prefer. The only problem is they cost 3-4 times more than a Remington action. BAT's and Panda's are not what you would call budget friendly.

Anyway, build on you CZ action, it will be ok.
