Savage Pistol stocks

This is a long shot. 7 or 8 years ago Neal Cooper was selling stocks for Savage action specialty pistols. Does anyone know who the stock cutter was?

Pm or email is fine if you don't want to post it on the board.

It's been quite a while but IIRC, Neal mentioned (I Think) that he was having someone else doing the stock making and was having problems with reliability. Not getting the stocks in a timely manner put him in the middle and he ended up being the bad guy, so he shut the stock business down. Passed it off to someone else and they ended up dropping the ball. Turned out bad for all concerned and mostly for the folks that would LOVE to have one of his stock designs.

Well Mike, it's looking like another dead end attempt at finding the stock cutter he was using for his stocks. Pitty, they were a good design. I tried my best a couple years ago with the same luck so at that time I used a Choate cut off for my target action. Its pretty good but leaves a few things to be desired.

When Neal made his first post about his stocks I was there and read every single one along the way. He talked about all the problems, his new designs, lots of pictures, and lots of pictures from the guys that bought them. He even gave the name of the company that was doing his dipping but never the stock cutter. I remember you posted a pic of your red dipped one when you were inletting the Whidden block. At that time I was a TC guy, Contender and Encore, as I had never been out of the state with handguns. They were everything I needed for Iowa. Four year ago I made the trip to Wy-Shot and the MOA, made me think I need a bolt pistol so I picked up a target action in the box from a fellow here. I think the Savage appealed to me because of the barrel interchangeability like the TCs. That action with a Criterion barrel shoots very well. Would like to do another Savage but I'm not going there until I find a stock. XPs are much easier. Norm LaFlamme turns out one heck of a quality stock for a very good price, quick turn time with no BSing around. I have 2 of them. Also in on the group buy McMillan going on right now.
