Savage Model 25 Walking Varminter

Brousing the racks of a local gun store and came across one in .222 Remington with a wooden VS. a Tupperware stock. It was a brand new rifle even though Savage does not list a wood stocked version on their website.

Looks like it would be a functional truck/vehicle gun at a reasonable price. Anyone here have any experience with the model 25?

I have not heard nothing but good reports on that action. I know the older models had wood stocks and plastic. Could be new old stock

I had one with a nutmeg wood laminated stock, chambered in .223" 26"barrel .it was a tack driver with 69 gr sierras. I wish I never sold it

My sage rat shooting buddy has one in 17 Hornet, and his is very accurate. His was the plastic stock, so a wood one would definitely be a nice upgrade.

I bought one a year ago in 17 Hornet.
Mine is the plastic stocked one .
The most accurate rifle I have ever owned.
But,it has been back to the factory once already for ejection issues.
Works better now but still not 100% reliable.
And be aware that YOU have to pay to send it back to them.
But when they work they are good shooters.
