Savage model 25 rebarrel

I did a search and couldn't find an answer. So I have a 204 ruger and wanted to make it into a 20vt was wonder if anyone has rebarreled one. I wasn't sure because its a rimfire action that was modified to use for the model 25.

That rifle being a rimfire is not suitable for conversion to a high intensity cartridge such as the 20VT. Not to mention the firing pin issue.......

I can't answer your question as I don't own and have not handled a Model 25, but the issues mentioned by Rick are not valid. The 20 Vartarg is a lower intensity round then the 204 Ruger the rifle is currently chambered for. Also, obviously, the action won't have a firing pin issue if it is already chambered for the 204 since this is also a centerfire round. It also has the same boltface diameter. I don't think the model 25 uses a barrel nut like other Savage centerfires so you may have to have a gunsmith do the chambering, but it should be doable.

Oops, I blundered above....sorry. Did not see the "204" part, my brain only picked up on the rimfire mention for some obscure reason.

I'll go sit in the corner now...... :-[

Figured RIO would catch that rimfire thing sooner or later.
I'm looking to convert my 25 Savage .22H to .19 Calhoon (Hornet). Buying a CZ or Ruger probably would have made it easier...

Yea but I still like my model 25 it shoots great but now after 2000 round later it finally starting to open up a bit. I figure its time to give it new life with a new barrel. Also for savage to use a sleeved barrel and people weren't sure how it was going to be ill say it worked alright for me. I think 2000 rounds is good for a 204 ruger.
