Savage model 16 extractor issues?

I recently changed the extractor on my model 16 Weather Warrior in .250 Savage and the accuracy is not what it was before the change.
Is there any possible way this could affect accuracy?

I can not see how, but a gunsmith, somewhere, might be able to tell you. Is all you did with the rifle was removed the bolt and change out the extractor ? Or did you remove it from the stock and maybe in going back together, you changed the torque on the action screws.

Bill K -- I just removed the bolt and changed out the extractor. This is the third extractor that this rifle has had. Previously the new extractors would work for a while and then the cases would come out only part way, and drop down in the magazine.
I have been putting up with this poor extraction for over a year now and I was getting fine accuracy. Fine accuracy I define as 3/4 to 1 inch five shot groups at 100 yards. After this extractor change, my groups opened up to 1 to 2 inches or more. The loads were basically the same. Perhaps a different primer, but that's it.
I surely don't think an extractor change will do this but I thought I would ask.

I installed some Kinneys Shooyting supply ENHANCED EJECTOR / EXTRACTOR kits #SS-2401 in 2 0f mine. No change in accuracy noticed. And ejection problem solved. The bolt did close a bit tighter due to the stiffer ejector spring.

I would change it out if it wasn't such a hassle with my neuropathy challenged fumble fingers!
Instead i will go back to visiting the primer change first!
