Savage model 12 Palma sights

This rifle is said to be coming predilled for two sight combinations front and rear.
I'm looking for recommendations on the best combination for this rifle. Receiver sights with the lowest height seem to make more sense.

There seems to be a wide selection of the front sight you mention. Is there a specific model that stands out? With the factory drilled pattern on the receiver, do you think that the Warner rear sight would require an intermediate sight base or bolt on directly?

I'm guessing Savage is drilling & tapping the receiver for a Redfield-type rear sight base - these come in various heights, which might make it a little confusing as to which one to get. My advice would be to call Homer at Champion's Choice Shooting Supply and ask for some guidance. Once you've got the base, you can mount a Warner, or PNW, or Phoenix, or...whatever brand of micrometer sight you decide on.

As for a front sight, I'd go with a Riles adjustable front, but wouldn't order it until I'd had a chance to measure the diameter of the factory bbl. at the muzzle. Scott can make the front sight base to fit most standard dia. muzzles.

The redfield base is probably the most likely assumption. In selecting the Riles front sight for 200 to 1000 yards, which rear sight makes the most sense?

There's little or no difference in the physical size of the sights mentioned; aside from quality & cost, they're all very similar. Warner is widely acknowledged as the top-of-the-line where quality is concerned, but the Phoenix & PNW sights are also very good, and are usually available without a long waiting period.
