Savage model 12 Long Range Precision 6.5

Well I bought the Savage 12FV today went to the range and my first 4 shots at 100 yds.

Hornady Match 140 gr HPBT, 40.5gr H4350.

The low shot was my cold bore shot. The other 3 clover leafed.

I was smiling all the way home from the range...

Awesome! Good work. My first shot groups with my bergara b14 hunter did not look like that! What shooting rest are you using?

My 12 LRP in 6.5 regularly shot 5 shot groups like this. (small boxes are 1 inch).

I swapped the barrel for an FTR from Northland and it's equally as good.

If I were to start over I'd just get the Savage 12 precision target action (Northland sells these too) and put the northland barrel on that.

Nice shooting.

Well today I qualified on the 600 yd range with my model 12FV. Had to hit 350, 400, 450, 500, 550 and 600 with no more than 10 shots at each stage. This is the 3rd time I have shot this gun and installed the PST II scope on it yesterday, shot 6 rounds at 100 yds to sight it in, reloaded 50 rounds of 6.5 CM and this morning went to the range to qualify. I need to replace the stock as the cheek pad and butt pad just does not fit me right. Was a challenge shooting it.

BUT I MADE IT:D:D:D:D:D:D

Not bad for a 70 year old guy....

Thinking of Boyds AT-One stock. I have used Boyd's stock on one of my AR-15's and really like the wood.

Any other to look at in the $200 price range?

I've got a couple of StockysStocks Bobby Hart laminate stocks for my Savage 6mmBR's. If you get the glossy finish version, be aware it'll tend to stick in the bags. I put teflon tape on it to ride the bags better.
If you're interested in some wood work over the winter, a Richards MicroFit in a Benchrest laminate could work. I use one for my 223 with Criterion barrel.

Well my Boyd's stock came in yesterday.

Needed some fitting on the trigger guard, but my dremil tool made quick work of it.

Before and after new outfit.
