Savage mechanic ?

A friend of mine wants to get into F/tr shooting. A lot of people recommend the Savage Palma rifle.
Who would be a good smith to go over action and bed the stock ? Need someone familiar with Savage actions and someone trustworthy . I know there not inexpensive , but the price of the stock is a big part of that. I thought he should shoot F/O but he's a 308 fanatic.
Thanks in advance on any info. yea I know, a Savage wouldn't be my first choice , but i've already been through that with him.

IMO - the Savage way is a money trap.....
Where to say every dime put into them, will have a hard time getting out of it down the road. Unlike a custom.....
A lot of guys end up married to them because they got to much invested, and would have been better off starting with a new or used custom.

If he's just wanting to get into it, buy one and shoot it. Don't worry about finding a mechanic, some shoot very well out of the box. If he decides he likes the competition, then find a mechanic to tweak it or better yet push him towards a custom rifle and sell the Salvage.
