I'll never use the iron sights of my Mark II...and I'm wondering if there is some kind of insert that I can use to replace the standard front sight. Trying to make it look like the barrel never had the dovetail cut for the front sight. I know you'll be able to tell if you get close, but just wondering if such an insert exists.

The only thing that will make it appear as If there was never a dovetail there would be to fit a dovetail filler and profile it to match the barrel contour. Even than you would probably have to refinish the barrel If you wanted it to be seemless. No easy way around this that I can think of.

Not familiar with this rifle or whether it is a collector's item or such but If the dovetail is an inch or so from the end of the barrel, cut it off and recrown it.

Being a Mark II, they are most likely made in Canada with the barrel pressed in.
