Savage magnum bolthead

Question for people who know savage rifles, can I use a magnum bolthead from a short action in a long action without problems? The cross pin hole is in some place. Thanks

Measure from the other end, the pin hole is not in the same place. You'll need a spacer at the back end to stop the firing pin.

Thanks KRP. I knew that, I must be distracted with to many other things. Yes that would result in a primer puncher. I don't want to put spacer in there so I guess I'll need another bolthead. Have ever you ever tried a spacer there KRP?

I've never done it. People did it to use short .378 bolt heads on long actions after the factory pieces got scarce. Considering long action magnum bolt heads are readily available it doesn't make sense to me.
