Remington 783 Breech face to bolt nose clearance?

hi Gary- boy you must have alot of stuff. anyway bolt nose to barrel breech face on a r783 is wat ive been wondering

I shoot for .003 -.005 with my breech NOT cut at 90 , I like mine with a little taper . More clearance on the outside ring than the chamber . Somewhere I read or was told that's the way Mike walker did the Rem 40X .
The designer of the savage 110 said he would omit the baffle or resign it instead of trying to trap hi pressure gasses he would re vent them . From some old precision shooting article .
Good news today , sold my house across the street , so much less work and cleanup / repair .

glad to hear you sold the place. a 40x has a counterbore right so wat is the purpose of the taper? lug clearance mabie in case of junk in there? the 783 spec may be .015 breech to boltnose but im gonna try for .005 or less to thanks

Crap residue gets pushed to outside . At least that's what I remember it was for . I cut all barrels like that even Mausers .
