Does anyone have any experience handloading for this rifle? If so, I could use some help. I owned a model 12 Low Pro Varminter and it shot factory 32 gr Hornady ammo so well, that I never bothered to handload for it. However, the new gun is not the same. It doesn't like the factory ammo, either Horn or Rem) and I'm now using H322, H335, Varget and BLC-2 with Hornady, Berger, Nosler, and Sierra bullets and am averaging 1.37" for 5 shots at 100 yds. I've weight sorted my brass,Hornady), cleaned/uniformed the primer pockets/flashholes, full length sized then trimmed, chamfered the neck inside and out, and that's it for the brass. Dillon press, although I only single stage it), RCBS dies, and individually weigh the powder charges. My runout is negligible.
Help! I called Savage and they said I should expect 1" groups or better and that I should send it back. I've got it boxed and ready to go, unless somebody out there can give me a better idea other than re-barreling at this point. Might be what has to happen if it comes back no better.
Thanks for your time,
Craiger
