your milage may vary, but to me savage shooters is about production hunting rifles , but they know little about real bench accuracy. been there done that got tired of the bs.

The Savage factory team were the people that came up with the 30-30-10 on the Benchrest and F-Class rifles. I have two Benchrest rifles also. Depends which barrel I have mounted what the torque is but the first two on both are 30-30 and the last might be 10,15 20 or 30. My third action is in a Hs Precision. I think they recommended 60 on all three. I am running 40 on all three. Torque them to where they shoot the best.

These are stock Savage barrels. 1 in 12 twist. I bought one brand new complete rifle. The other used barreI bought off the site used with 200 rounds through it is a newer fluted barrel. I then bought a new Target Action RBLP and a used H&S LRPV stock from this site and made another rifle. I will buy all these 1 in 12 twist Savage barrels I can find. Savage hasn't made these barrels for at least 10 years. For 100 & 200 yard shooting they are far better than the 1 in 8 twist by a long long ways.
I assume the factory team are shooting FTR/F class stocks of wood laminate so I also expect the torque would be diferent for these.
Bedded i'm sure.
The LRPV has the HS stock with the bedding block and that is a whole different animal.
I will start at 50 inlbs on the front two screws and 10 on the rear and work the rear up in increments to see what if any effect on the group size will be.
As I said i'm starting with a rifle and load that shoots in the .300s.
I'm not expecting much but if you don't try stuff you for sure won't see any improvments.

On the Target Action I use 35inch pounds on the (2) front screws and 25# on the rear, This works the best for me on (4) different rifles.
@Gary C , if you haven't already read this thread you may want to check it out. Your OP only mentioned .015 jam, but there can be a lot of room for improvement in seating depth.
Whats .001 of seating depth worth?
I like to post targets that are very good examples. And this one is a great example of seating depth at 1k at Deep Creek that Tom Mousel shot tuning before the match. We know +6 shoots and +4 blows up, have not seen +5 yet. Most likely the window is +6-+8 which is very normal for a Vapor...

shot a three shot group in 5 inlb increments and accuracy was nothing noteworthy.
everything shot .5.6 right up to 40 on th erear where i finished for the day.
My next trip out will start at 60 INlbs in all three and I will work the back screw down in 5inlb steps and compare targets to see if there is a pattern that has information in it.
This kind if tinkering is where a lot of the fun is for me!

That is why its best to test on every rifle. It can effect harmonics, even on HS stock. I have 2 of those.
Have you played much with seating depth?
Loosen until the rifle goes out of tune then tighten until the tune improves, season to taste.

I have gone in and out using several different bullets.
I find and record touch and jam for any bullet that I try.
I have not done much jumping by my definition shorter than touch.
I did try a few diferent loads with the bullet that seems to work best, Berger 108.
.015 into the lands is a good firm jam and I pretty much hang around there.
