Savage LA 308?

I have a savage 110 LA 308,with a blind mag, that was a 30-06), and I would like to convert the magazine from a 30-06 to a 308. Does any body know how a person could do this?

Most of the conversions simply put a spacer at the back of the mag well and shortened the follower to match. I have a long action Win Model 70 chambered in 308, it came with a sheet metal spacer tacked to the back of the sheet metal magazine. A long action lets you seat the bullets as long as you like.

Are you going to shoot 180-210 grain bullets? If so don't do a thing except open up the throat in your barrel so the bullets can be seated further out. If you are having problems with 150-180 grain bullets moving around in your box then shim the back of the box as stated. Then use a SA follower and spring. The shim can be welded or put in with screws so it can be removed and used as it was originally made if you change back to a long action cartridge. Another question is weather you are going to top feed the mag box with a stripper clip in XC shooting. If youar going to yse the rifle in F-Class just put a single feed follower in the existing mag box.
