Savage FSS 22 barrel floated?

I am wondering if the barrel of a new Savage FSS 22lr comes floated. I am able to slip paper between the barrel and stock. Does this mean the barrel is floated?

Generally, that means it's free floated. But, the plastic stock might flex a little. Maybe enough to touch the barrel.

Did you try it while the rifle is resting on the fore end?

They should be. If this is a MKII action, you can use flat washers between the stock and the pillars to greatly lessen issues with action torque.
