Savage ejecting issues

I know this subject has come up numerous times, however I can’t find the answer for my issue. I have tried a new ejector and extractor kit. The bolt grabs the shell and kicks it to the side like it’s supposed to. Definitely has some tension on the shell. However the mouth of the case just slides down the bolt channel and never kicks up and out. Any ideas on what to try? It’s a 300 blackout barrel on an older model 10 action

Common problem with the short length of the case. The case mouth clears the breech end of the barrel before the back end of the case can be held to the bolt face by the RH side of the receiver wall. Then there is no tension on the case head. The case must be held tightly to the bolt face until the neck meets the ejection port opening or it will not eject. Remington solved this problem by repositioning the extractor/ejector to make the case slide by the edge of the top lug abutment. thereby keeping tension on the side of the case until it reaches the ejection port. On a Savage, I just remove the ejector and pull the case off the bolt by hand when using the very short cases like this. If I don't remove the ejector, the empty case sometimes comes off the bolt up inside the receiver and makes it even harder to get it out.

I don't want to BYB's but it appears your extractor is upside down. That little indent should be on the ball bearing underneath it. Also try a 0.140 ball bearing instead of the stock one.

That’s not the indent. It is like a stamped label on the extractor. There is a indent on the ball bearing side. I’ll try to get a .140 ball bearing to try

What happens when you have a follower or solid bottom in place and you are holding it correctly = horizontal? Work the bolt fast .

Do you know the origin of the bolt head? Looks like a left hand bolt head in a right hand action.

If that's a 300 Blackout, you are probably going to have a hard time getting it to extract and eject properly. Remove the ejector and just pick the case off the bolt head.

Man you are a genius. I didn’t even think about that. Sure enough it is a left handed bolt face

Didn’t even check it. Had a buddy give it to me and didn’t check it was for a right hand action
My job is done here.

If you change to a right hand bolt head, you'll need to check headspace. And, you'll be dropping the case before ejection. Remove the ejector and shoot single shot.

Been there done that. I bought a .223 barrel off here and with a bolthead and recoil lug. The seller didn't tell me it was left handed and I didn't ask, I ASSumed it was right handed. I learned another lesson.

If you remove the ejector, you won't need to change the bolt head and can avoid the headspace issue.

I would have mentioned this except I didn't read where he wanted to shoot it as a single shot. But that is an option.
