I have to say their customer service is top notch. Making me rethink my feelings towards their products. To shortly reiterate the story, I got a Savage A22 Magnum. Worst P.O.S. trigger I ever had - the accurelease to be specific. Very heavy pressure to manipulate it, so much so, I couldn't feel the actual trigger function. Thought that this is the way they are. Saw some you tube videos on how to remove it so I thought I would give it a try. Surprise -- it is a different design than their other rifles. Ended up messing up the whole thing. Sent it back to them with a full explanation/confession about it. Called and asked how much it would be to repair. They stated they would call when they examine the rifle. UPS delivered it today, exactly one month after they received it. No charge for repair or return shipping. And, the accurelease is much, much, much, better than before. I must shoot it some before making a final decision on the design, but I am impressed with Savage and their service.

The trigger group in the Savage A17/A22 is very similar to tuning the trigger on an AR15 and they benefit, GREATLY, from a good tune up. The crunchy forever creep/pre-travel on my A17 was beyond bad, made it very difficult to shoot with any amount of precision, until, I tuned up the trigger on it. Now it's right around 2-2.25lbs with next to zero creep.

I thought the safety trigger on mine out of the box was excessive as well so I clipped a coil at a time, on that funny little spring with the arm on it that puts resistance on the safety trigger, until I reached a satisfactory level of resistance. You can remove that little spring entirely but then the safety trigger blade just kind of flops around when it has no spring tension on it as well as it renders that part of the safety trigger useless so that's probably not the best way to go.

These triggers disassemble/re-assemble very easily but the one tricky part you have to remember on re-assembly is there is a little blade like piece that pivots and can drop down, you'll never really see it unless you are looking for it, it HAS to go in the forked part of the safety trigger. If it's not in its proper location nothing works right. It's easy to get into its proper spot but like I said, you kind of have to be looking for it because it's easy to miss if you aren't. I didn't see it the first time I put my A17 trigger back together and had a brief WTF moment when the trigger didn't work right. Took it back apart, noticed it wasn't sitting in the fork end of the safety trigger put it back together, correctly this time, and its been a huge improvement over stock.
