Savage BVSS stock front pillar

Boyd L.

Witty comment under development
I have a 4.27” BVSS stock that I plan to drop a 4.4” action in. Before I mill out the flanged ferrule that Savage uses for a front pillar can anyone tell me if it’s threaded into the stock or if it’s pressed and glued?
Just curious.

My BVSS was not nor my F/Class Stock Heavy steel pillar guess it was glued but i drilled it out no threads on the outside of the pillar

Boyd I have done a few, just heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer ( on high) and drive it out with a dowel or deep socket. Then use the dowel to fill the hole and re drill to proper size.

Thank you for the replies.
Three gentle raps using a ball peen and flat end punch showed me this thing: see below).

The dowel is ready to glue.:D

With the shoulder like that and the heavy knurl they dont even have to glue them. Wouldnt really call it a pillar id call it a way for the screw to not sink into the stock on those
