Savage barrels

There should be quite a list of barrel makers that could supply a pre-threaded - pre-fit barrel: Shilen, McGowan, and on and on. Good luck.

Benchmark out in Washington state will also make you one.
They'll make pre-fit, or send them your action, and they will use min tolerance when cutting the threads. My stainless last spring was $400 to my door. And they contoured it to my specification--the weight was w/in .25 lb of the Lilja spreadsheet calculation. Not sure what their reamer selection is. I got my own from PT&G.
Bartlein will fit their barrel too. Don't know if they do pre-fit, but they will fit to your action. Their price may be higher than others.
SSS and Pac-Nor have many satisfied customers.
So many choices, so little money . . .

Brux doesn't catalog pre-fit Savage barrels, but will make 'em if you ask nicely. Just got mine in the mail a couple weeks back... 30" #14 Heavy Palma contour, 1-12" twist .30 cal $25, interrupted fluting $100, chambered & threaded for Savage Target Action $150, S&H $20. Total delivered cost $535

If you decide to do a McGowen or Shilen check with Jim Briggs at Northland Shooters Supply. I have gotten two barrels and some parts from him with no problems and he is cheaper than either place,Shilen or McGowen) with no wait,if he has what you want in stock).

+1 with Northland Shooters Supply. Jim is very good to deal with.

I have SSS, Shilen, and McGowen barrels for my Savages and all of them are shooters.

Right now ordering from Shilen is about a 15-20week wait. SSS is about 6-10weeks. McGowen is about 5-6 weeks. Depending on what you want, Jim has many different calibers, lengths, and twists in stock and you could have it in a week. And he's cheaper than almost anyone else around.

Jim also now sells machined recoil lugs similar to the SSS lugs. I dont have one but guys who do say they are very nice.

Here's a link to his current list of barrels in stock, updated 11/21/08:

+1 for sure on Jim Briggs at Northlander. He is a great guy and really knows his Savage Rifles. I have bought several items from him.:D
