6brx Setting Headspace

Hello-
New to the forum. I recently purchased a threaded and chambered barrel in 6brx from Sharp Shooters Supply for a Savage rifle. I am unsure as to how to proceed to set the headspace for this improved cartridge. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

The best way is to use a steel Go and No Go Gauge set. You can buy them from a number of sources, Pacific Tool and Gauge, Dave Manson, Clymer, JGS. Because it is a "Wildcat" MidwayUSA, Brownells, may have to special order them.

A set will cost you about $75.00. Most gunsmiths will headspace your Savage barrel for about $35.00.

There will be some responses to your post about using a fire formed case from another rifle. I would reccomend against using this method.
The web area in the 6mmBR case is thin and headspacing on high presure cases is critical.

I have chambered many 6mmBRX and it is a great cartridge. If you are going to shoot F-Class I would reccomend a a 30-32 inch barrel with 8 twist shooting 105- 108 grain bullets using Varget, RE-15, H4350, VV-550. There seems to be an accuracy node between 3020-3080 fps.

The 6mmBRx is a great cartridge out to 1000 yards.
