Savage barrel price question

Hey guys I have a savage model 12 ftr with a 30in barrel that's 1 inch at the muzzle chambered in 308. I'm planning to re barrel for a different cartridge. It shoots awesome but I'm just wanting something else to mess with. Anyways I'm trying to sell the barrel and am having trouble figuring out what a good price would be. What are these things worth? I know it's a savage take off but it's not just a varmint barrel off a model 10 (not that those are bad) or a standard hunting weight barrel. I've had a couple people offer me what I deemed as lowball offers due to the fact it's a savage take off. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If does depend on round count and demand....I've seen the Large Shank Target take off barrels on here for $250 and go for over $300 on ebay.

I think the question is,what are you asking for it and that would help determine if you are way off.

He's only posted it up WTT for a Large Shank....I think it's been awhile, he didn't have it listed "For Sale" only trade which is why he more than likely got the "lowball" offers that come with a WTT Ad.

Thinking it's off an 12 F/TR...in finding the Original Post he is listing it as 250 rounds, 30" long with a 1-10" twist....thought they were 1-12"?

I tried to sell a 6br savage 12 take-off. You might be able to get around $100 for it. maybe $200 if you're lucky. $300 is way too much for a used barrel, maybe unfired you might be able to swing that.

I bought a brand new shilen prefit for $320, Criterion prefits sell for $280... and there is no wait... and if there is something wrong with it, I can send it back.

But thats just like my opinion, man.

Another 2 cents. Being a large shank greatly reduces the number of potential customers with small shank being the majority of Savage owners. A 30 inch 308 target barrel is also pretty big for the tactical crowd. It could be rechambered to something bigger and badder real easy if somebody wanted one of those real long range magnums that are popular. I buy and sell a lot of Savage parts but I don't do much with the large shank, took me 3 months to sell a new SS 270WSM varmint weight. Hang in there and it will sell eventually. $150-175 is the top end.

I agree with Hotshot about the large shank and $150-175 being tops for any Savage takeoff ... Large or small.

Just to answer a few of the posts here its got less than 300rnds through it. I know because I bought 300 rounds of brass and haven't used it all yet. Would have to count for exact number. As far as asking price you are correct I have it up for trade. The offers didn't come from that post though. They came from a post I have that's selling the ftr stock. I mentioned to a couple guys that were interested in the stock that I was also selling the barrel and said that I wasn't real positive what its worth and said that 225 seemed like a good starting point to me and that if it was too high to make an offer. I was then offered 60 bucks by one guy and 75 by another. I guess maybe I walked into that with my response. As for being able to send a barrel back if it didn't shoot, well there is definitely a lot to be said for that. That being said I'm not out to screw anybody and it really does shoot very well. Believe me I know that it's damn near impossible to trust somebody you have never met these days which is really sad. I think I at least now have a good idea what I should ask and be willing to take for it so thank all you guys for taking the time to respond to my question.

I'll third that (I don't have a large shank and I'm not in the market). That's the range I'd be willing to spend on lightly used, factory heavy-barrel takeoff.

If some jacka$$ (trying to get something for essentially nothing) offered me $60 for that barrel, I'd have a hard time not telling them to insert preferred rude remark here.
