I may work on a switchbarrel with a barrel block next time. So I can use one stock for several actions. I just dont know if I wanna bore a block for the barrel or not... Seems like a pita.. But it will make it easy to find a stock. All you need is a trigger cutout. Matt

As far as aftermarket stocks for Savage LA, the Choate Tactical is pretty good and can be easily modified to fit your needs. Am just recently getting onto the Savage bandwagon and building on an old style flat top 116 w/ 6-284 Shilen Select Match pre-fit barrel in the Choate Tactical stock.

I have made a few modifications to the gun - trigger job, truing action face, lapping lugs, polishing feed ramp, etc. Stock - built a custom extra long and thick drop spacer for the butt pad to lower it 2.3" and canted the pad.

Don't know anything about F/TR or other comp. rules, but Choate makes other (heavier) stocks to fit the LA Savage, as well as Stockade, IIRC.
