Savage Action screws

Well good news. I just got a brand new F-class rifle from Savage. It took 5 tries but it looks like my problem is solved. If it shoots like the target they sent me I am good to go, and that was with factory ammo. So when I fine tune it I hope it will be less then the clover leaf target they sent me. The scope has enough left windage now.
Customer Service was very nice through this whole episode and I was called by a Representative to let me know what was going on this last time. After he went and looked at the rifle he called me back and said a new rifle will be sent to me on the 19th and it got here today.
So I got my Christmas Present in time. Hope to make the Quantico Shoot March 22nd and shoot it more then the 200yds I have out here. Going to load some ammo and break her in right after New Year's.

It is good to hear that they replaced your rifle but did they explain what the actual problem was with the original rifle. I have the same problem .

Sorry took so long to reply to your PM but have not been on the sites that much lately.
Still NO they didn't but so far so good at least to 200yds. Still the load I used for the first Savage is not has good in this one, but I am getting there. Amazing how much tighter this chamber is. I had to redo all my brass. Yet the loaded rounds I had fit into 2 other Savage F-Open without having to full length and fire form it again.

When I check the head-space on the brass it hardly changes compared to the first rifle I had.

edpmedic i read your posts on your savage problem, I had the same thing, only in the elevation direction. I called Savage and spoke to a tech, I had the gun about a week and a half when i ran out of elevation on a new NF 12-42 BR shooting Forbes 600yds. I found the problem to be a bent barrel of .004', along with the action being out of square by .004, giving the barrel a downward dip of .082 thou. at the crown. I told all of this to the tech and she said to send the gun to them and they would have it about 3 weeks and look at it to see if it was in spec. I could not get any specifications from her.I decided not to do the waiting game and risk the possibility of nothing being done to correct the problem, so I bought a new Shilen barrel and will true the action face when the shooting season slows down a bit. Savage should true all the action faces on their precision guns. I'm glad you got helped by Savage, too bad you had to jump thru so many hoops, I do not have that kind of patience. I feel as though it is a loose loose situation for the buyer.I have the resources to fix the gun, many do not. At least I know what I will have when it's done. I must say the Savage barrel did shoot well----If it was pointed straight out of the action that would be better. Savage Tech said the only actions that are trued with the barrel is their PALMA guns by the way. I guess its sort of a turkey shoot when you buy a factory gun?

Well I am headed to Forbes right now. So far they have not come lose since last match at Reade. Anyway this rifle will get a 6.5x47 chambered barrel for next season. I'm going to get a pacNor barrel and use it for 600yds along with my 6br.
I have over 1600 rounds through this barrel already. Hope for it to make it through the Nationals and 2 other Matches at Reade. Then for my 6.5x284 I will have a rifle being built by Accuracy One for next season. I still think Savage has stepped up to the plate to create a rifle for F-class at a entry level price. Yet I wish it wasn't a crap shoot to get a reliable one. Seems all the emails I have received since this thread shows I am not alone.
I do give credit and thanks to Savage for great customer service and finally a new rifle.
What gets me is it seems their Palma and 223-308 F-class have almost zero problems. It is the 6.5x284 which most of the replies are the problem.
