Savage Action, Russo Pistol Stock (pics)

Here are a few pics of the Savage Target Action sitting in a Russo stock. I plan on ordering a Whidder V-Block and installing in the stock. I still need to do some finall shaping to the stock.

Man that is cool looking. Are the russo stocks real expensive. I really like the color and look of your stock.

Joe Russo does fantastic work. He brings a load of stocks to our annual savage get together in PA. I always leave there drooling. They are very affordable in comparison to any stock craftsman who puts in the work he does.

Working with Joel is a very good experience too, very down to earth and just your average joe. He will listen to your wants and provide great customer service.

I am just asking, but is it legal to make a rifle into a pistol? I know about the TC's but I think they somehow qualify. Sweet looking piece.

no its not legal to make a rifle a pistol. but that left savage as a either un-desigated or as a pistol action. TC is the same way. cant buy it as a rifle and make it a pistol. bought both my encore frames as pistol frames then you are ok

The action was purchased by my FFL nondesinated and then registered to me as a pistol.

Dont quote me on this but if my understanding on this is correct you can take a rifle and make a pistol stocked rifle. The barrel cant be under 16" and total lenght must be at least 26"

When you purchase your new non-designated action all your FFL holder need to do is designate it as a "other" not a pistol or a long gun, that way you can switch it back and forth from a pistol stock to a rifle stock and be perfectly legal. You can never convert a action that when sold new was designated as a long gun to a pistol format.

Here's my XP100 25-284, if the stock work looks a little familiar it another one of Preacher's works of art.
