Savage 93 17 hmr 10 round magazine

I found some ten round mags and they say they are recommended for rifles with serial numbers 1158318 and higher and mine is 0846***. What's the difference between the newer and older rifles that the mags won't work.

goat--- I have a 11 yr old Savage .17hmr , have never had a 10 rd clip for it all these years, recently bought a .22 mag Savage with 5 rd clip... bought a 10 rd clip that says same as you are talking about...works perfect on the .17s... not so much on the .22 mags...seems to be the pointy tip...30 gr v max is pointy and works fine...Neil

Thanks Neil,
I bought a couple and have to use a good bit of force to get it to lock in and remove. I know it will break in a little bit but it's pretty tight. I don't know if the newer ones have a thinner magazine feed ramp, it's a five dollar part maybe I will order one to file on to see if it will fit better.
