Savage 6BR LRPV

Can any one tell me where these dimensions are measured from:
(Mine is a 3rd Gen Short....ser# Hxxxxx purchased new in 2011....I list these other possibilities but they only get worse.

3rd Gen Short: 4.400" (2006 - present)-----should be mine-------
2nd Gen. Short: 4.275" (1998 - 2005)
1st Gen. Short: 4.522" (1959 - 1988)


When I measure mine from center of front action screw to the rear action screw I get 3.45
From front to center or rear to center the measurement is 1.72

I can not get 4.400 no matter where I measure from or to. The rear trigger guard screw is a machine screw that that secures in a captive nut in the stock Savage stack, it is not a wood screw. The listed dimensions are from many different sites and they all jive with each other so I am lost as to where to take these measurements from or to. Need help on this for sure.

Your measurements are correct. Your list is missing the 3.44" length bolt spaced Target action! Welcome to the wonderful world of Savage firearms!

I went through the same thing when I got my .223 LRPV. A friend bought 2 Savage Target Short Actions and had to argue with the guy from Savage when trying to order an F-T/r stock.
