Savage 338 lapua to 300 rum bolt head problems

I want to change my 338 lapua over to a 300 rum. I am having trouble finding a rum bolthead that is the same as the lapua bolthead (larger lugs) only in the rum size. I called PT&G in August of last year and was told they couldn't make this, I again called back hoping to get a better answer and talked to another person and they took my order on this stating they would make this for me. I haven't received it and I have inquired about it a couple times. Do I have other options as they seem confused as to why I don't already have this in hand when I call and inquire about this order? Thanks for any advice

The .338 Lapua is a larger case head and requires a larger bolt face. I ordered 2 Lapua Magnum Bolt heads in November 2013, and had not received them by March 2014, so I put in a new Job card at PT&G. In July 2014 I still had not received the .338 Lapua Magnum bolt heads. In August 2014 I received the .338 Lapua Magnum Bolt heads nine months after the original order. I usually order standard Magnum Bolt heads 3-6 at a time. Usually takes 4-6 months to get them. I order Standard bolt heads (.473) 10-25 at a time and it normally takes 3-4 months. The same with .223 boltheads, 6PPC, and .224 Weatherby.

PT&G has had a lot of things going on behind the scenes. Some beyond Dave Kiff control and some within his control. Dave and his staff are working on resolving all issues. Growth and new employees have added to the confusion.

I make the following recommendations: When you make an order document the time, date, person you are dealing with, and the order number and job card number. Their orders are now keyed into the computer as they are taken. They are now giving expected completion dates. Their computer is sending a confirmation of the order. If drawings are involved they send a drawing to be reviewed and approved. I suggest you keep a notebook, file folder, or computer file for each and all orders. Documentation is key if you have an issue. I keep all e-mails, and record all calls digitally. If you have an issue make sure you talk the same person each time, my go to person is "Jesica". She will work with you and the PT&G staff to get your order done and done correctly.

PT&G precision ground Savage bolt heads are in a league of their own.
