Savage 308 FT/R and 185 juggernauts !

Tried several bullets in my factory Savage. Some were hard to tune and picky. The Sierra 155 palmas, 168,175 smk shot good. Then I tried some Berger Juggernauts today!

Wow....very easy to tune. First powder load was 43.5 varget with federal match primers. Shot a 1/2" 100 yard group. So..loaded up 5 with br4 and 5 with federal primers , 5 more each with 43.7 varget and headed to my 300 yard range with my chrony.

All four loads gave me groups ranging from 1.4-1.6" at 300!

Both primers averaged around 2750 fps with e.s of 18 & 11and sd of 6& 4. Federal had the lowest each time. 43.7 gained me only 10fps and same spread.

Groups averaged 1" or less vertical but more horizontally. Some wind and I basically shot through it. I could see grass fluttering at my target base.

Not a 1/4" gun but I am tickled with 1/2 moa factory gun at 300

Very good indeed. My Savage F/tr is a great shooting gun with the only load I have tried, varget and 168 SMKs. I will try your load.

nice shooting broncman. What does your rifle measure to the lands? Mine is measuring 2.225-2.300 respectivley with 175 SMK. using the dremel cut brass method.

Rob

Sorry, should read 2.225-2.230, 5 thou difference.

With the black magic marker in the bullet somewhere around 2.230-2.232 I get marks on the bullet. If I use a real light tension neck it will stick the bullet at 2.235.

I ordered several hundred of those from Brunos when he showed they were in stock in early February.....not saw them yet.

If they are out of powders and darn near everything else on their websight....then I am not understanding why it takes them so long to process what little is in stock.

because they are processing orders from several weeks ago...they might physically have some things that are "out of stock" but are already ordered, just not sent.

I know the reasons, just hard for us to imagine that kind of backlog....or them even keeping enough inventory to have a month worth of shipping and processing!

The cupboards appeared to be bare a month ago! Oh well... Sure they will get to my order soon enough.
