Savage 25 Ejection Issues

Bought a Savage 25 a while age as I wanted to get in on the 17 Hornet game.
Found out too late after I bought it the frequent issues with extraction and ejection problems with this particular model.
Mine extracts fine but has problems with ejecting the case , many just fall back into the magazine well area.
Tired of having to tip the rifle on its side to get the fired case to fall out.
Has been back to the factory once and they improved it a bit but it still does it just not as much .
Savage just said 'some parts replaced ' and no other details .
And their warranty sucks , the customer has to pay to ship it to them .
They pay to ship it back to you though .
Just dont feel like wasting another $40 for a return trip that may not get any satisfactory results .
Any body found a fix for this issue yet ?
Willing to try anything at this point , we have a few good gun smiths in the area if that's what it takes .
Thanks

Dennis

I'm not familiar with the 25 bolt face setup but Every Savage 10-110 type rifle I own (7) has poor ejection until I install the upgraded parts. Several folks carry the parts. I would start with Google, then Northland shooters supply, James know Savage inside and out.
I just fixed one 2 weeks ago the parts where about $40 to my door A new extractor, ball and spring, ejector and new spring does the trick. It don't fling them like an AR but it clears the action.
Again I don't know the 25, it may be setup totally different. Let's us know how it works out for you and good luck.

Kinneys statement about the factory replacement parts, same as Savage parts and DO NOT address the known problems with the M25.
Thats what I have found so far .
Was hoping somebody had a solution such as different spring , reshaped part etc.
Seems the 25 is kinda an orphan when it comes to after market parts.
Shame as it the most accurate rifle I have owned out of the box with factory ammo.
And the 17 Hornet is a good cartridge .
But I am holding out that somebody has a solution .:)

Don't fret about it yet.
I used to hang out on Savage Shooters forum, Their are many people "fan's" of Savage around that know every little part of the models that they mess with. Like me I've messed with the 10-110's for 30 years now, building from scratch, barrel swaps, etc. By no means do I know everything but I do well with all of mine.
I used to be a Remington man until I got a Savage 22-250. In my opinion they make/made the most accurate out of the box guns. And with a little tweaking and hand loading their hard to beat.
Five shot group @100 yds Model 12 to 14 clone I put together.

I fixed both of my model 25's. Took them out of the safe and sold them. Problem solved.

Had a 222 and a 17 Hornet and both of them shot great. Savage rifles always shoot right out of the box but design, function and appearance seldom figure into the equation. When the 25 came out I was thrilled and jumped on the band wagon. New model, fresh start, but once again what could have been was over looked for the sake of saving $ in production costs. I don't hate Savage but truly wish they would take the time to do it right more frequently.

Luckily I was able to grab a couple more CZ 527's before production stopped.

Rat44 I sent coyotefurharvester a DM, apparently he has no direct knowledge and is speculating that the parts I found will not fix this issue.

For reference this is the direct link to the part:

A few points to consider, first there is a note on this about the 17&22 hornet stating that there is a "known unresolved issue" that Savage is working on! I did not see that part last night. Secondly read the 1 and only review. The guy says it fixed his 17 Hornet.

These parts are not cheap so if it was me I'm not sure I would do it. I do know that I would be on Savage like a duck on a June bug until they at a minimum sent me a new set of bolt head parts or paid shipping both ways, etc. This "issue" is unacceptable. The model 25 in 17&22 Hornet has been in production since when? I would get them to admit to the "known issue" and make it right not being a jerk about it (not my strong suit).

Back in the day you could raise hell on SS forum and magically you would be treated well when you called because their where inside connection lurking there. Make a statement like "I'm calling them SOB'S for the 3rd time Monday" and presto magico when you did call they made it right.
