Savage 22hp

was reading post on the 22hp .228 bullets, I have been shooting these for 40yrs, luckily I have been finding bullets, they are scarce as hens teeth, but can be done,, search for sisk, hornady, speer, or you can use cast bullets. right now I have 1500+that are hornady, for the suggestion to rebarrel the 22hp, that is really stupid, UNLESS the barrel is shot out. the 22hp was a BIG hit and still has great following, some use .224 bullets different weight bullets, a 22hp in 90-100% can bring 2000 depending on condition and the model. a 22hp T in as new condition could bring 3000. I have 3, 2 in take down model, one in solid frame (very rare) have 1 that is 22hp over 16ga, I am always looking for high condition 99's

I have a box of Speer 228's in the shed. You are quite welcome to them, but you will have to collect.

Had one years ago, couldn't find 228 bullets. 224 bullets key holed. Traded it for a nice double barrel.
I was always curious why Savage made it in 228 diameter?

I read a story of old Florida history about a gun fight over fishing right on lake Okeechobee. The fishermen had not renewed the lease with the land owner, but continued to fish the area. The owner confronted the fishermen at the port Myakka fish house and a gun fight ensued. When all dies down and the neighbors rushed to the fish house the owner grabbed one of the young men and told him to go to Okeechobee city get the sheriff and go by the hardware store and but me a rifle that will pernitrate the 1 inch thick cypress boards of the fish house. The kid returned with the law and a 22 high power.
