Savage 223 bolt face from Sharp Shooters install????

I have a 110 long action in 30 06 , i ordered the parts from Sharp shooters to convert this to a 223 bolt face. The parts i got was a 223 bolt face , and an extended firing pin nut. My question is what should the measurement of the firing pin protusion be and the overall length of the firing pin with the extended nut Sharp shooters made? It looks like he takes a short action bolt face and machines a nut to compensate for the difference in length. Thanks

You set the protrusion with the firing pin assembly disassembled. I use an ink pen or a large Allen wrench to push the firing pin into the bolt and use the depth gauging end of a set of calibers to measure. Push the depth gauge all the way down against the boltface zero them then measure the the firing pin til you get it set where you want it.
I think the longer bolt supplied is just to make up the difference between short and long bolts. It will only be under spring pressure and shouldn't affect anything as far as your firing pic is concerned. Good luck. Hope that made sense.
