I have a pal who has shot out his .17 to the point it will no longer hit anything. These little Savages seem to not make sense to rebarrel with a custom barrel and I suggested he call Savage to find out the cost to rebarrel. Savage would not provide a price over the phone, would not sell a barrel by itself, and said he must send in the rifle to determine whether they would even consider rebarreling it. Before my friend spends $30.00 to send in his rifle only to find it may cost more to rebarrel than a new gun - has anybody out there paid to have a Savage barrel recently replaced by Savage? What did it cost?
