savage 12 bolt disassembly

the cocking piece sleeve will not move far enough to remove the cocking piece pin to remove the firing pin assembly. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

It pretty much has to, or else it would not have been able to be assembled in the first place.

There's a little gutter or shoulder between the button head portion and the stem that the sleeve sometimes hangs up on; try shaking / wiggling it a little bit to get it past that point.
