Savage 110 45 ACP

I am building a Savage 110 in 45 ACP. I am doing a 20” Varmint barrel. Adding a mag sled. Then a forest camo spike camp Boys stock.

Looking for thoughts on loading.

Plan to try a 200 and 230 cast over a good load of Unique.

I have some 230 Win HPs and some 185s in several brand.

Also should I buy some 45 Super brass and try to stoke it up just a tad more?

Let me know what you think.

plan to use this as a 22LR that shoots 230 gr bullets.

You could chamber it to 45 win mag and go from subsonic to quite stout

Basically an integrally suppressed 45 ACP bolt gun.

Winchester 231 and Bullseye was what i used for 45 acp in pistol , don’t know about the longer barrel .

My thought was if I really liked it to convert to 1911 mags using a modified Mauser conversion.

Loaded tons of 45acp with Bullseye and Unique over the years. For accuracy Unique has always done better for me (in pistols of course), but Unique is also quite a bit more dirty than Bullseye. An AR pistol in 45acp w/maybe a 10" barrel has interested me for a while. Please post updates.

Barrel made it this week. Fits the stock almost perfect. I will post some photos once I get it beaded in the stock. May shoot some sneak peaks

If your planning on shooting cast bullets, i'd use starting 45ACP loads.
After you get past about 1,000fps you'll want gas checks pressed onto the back of them.

When I first read varmint and 45 acp in the same sentence I was puzzled to say the least. It would be fun to play with. Not much recoil. Wouldnt be a flat shooting varmint rifle but would work up close. I shoot 185s and 231 in my pistols. Never thought it was a varmint round. You got me thinkin outside the box. Doug

Nice short 18-20 inch barrel might be a fine "brush" gun for deer.
I shoot the 185gr also.

Just finished this one been shooting this morning. Shortened 98 mauser 1.7" used Rhineland arms magazine adapter modified to fit the newly shortened bottom metal. Uses 1911 magazine and I am going to shorten it to hold 4 rds. Douglas 16 twist barrel at 18.5". Shoots very well with 185 gr Sierra HP Using 8grs of HS-6 or AA#5 at average 1000fps. Lots of fun

I was thinking about using that same mag adapter with some mods in my build. Plan to do single shot at first then upgrade to that setup later.

Yes I am curious to see how that works in your Savage pushfeed action. Working around the short acp case feeding and ejection are major issues. I would like to do a single shot version also. Be a lot less work than this one. I was surprised how much velocity I could get out of that case. Please keep us posted. Good luck and have fun!
