Savage 11 from .223 to swift. what nut and lug?

My new 112 220 swift take off barrel will be in tomorrow. I think I am going to put it on my mod 11 which is currently chambered in .223. I was planning on getting a new Savage bolt head, and an aftermarket lug and nut. Any bennifit to an aftermarket bolt head, and what is my best bet as far as nut and lug thickness and brand? Thanks!

Northland shooter supply for lug and nut.

I've done a bunch of Savage barrel swapping and finally just got a couple extra bolts to make it real fast and easy. I do have a couple PTG bolt heads and they look better to my eye. If there is a performance advantage I haven't noticed. Same opinion on lugs and nuts. I shoot varmints not targets.

I reused both the factory baffles in my 2 rifles....worked out just fine.....as a matter of fact I used all the factory parts to complete the PTG bolt head swap. The only modification that I had to make was to file down the extractor around the outer edge on one of the bolt heads once it was installed....it was overhanging just a little too much. I only needed to do this on one of them.

If you run into any problems making that swap just post it here....I might be able to help with my limited knowledge and I'm sure there are plenty of true experts here who can get you through it.

Keep us posted. I really have enjoyed tinkering with my Savages.

The different lengths of the gas baffles is to control the bolt travel. Longer cartridges may need the short baffle for ejection, short cartridges work great with the longer baffle where less travel is needed for ejection.
