WyoWindage, conceptually I can see where you're coming from. However, according to Jim @ NSS the factory recoil lugs are stamped which means they aren't exactly straight and true. When you take and bed underneath and behind that crooked recoil lug the new straight one won't sit well in the stock. Unfortunately I have to remove some bedding from the same area to fascilitate the new recoil lug.
