SAVAGE 10 SBA versus 700 ADL, Tactical

If you ever want a nice trigger get the Remington.

Rifle Basix make a pretty darn good trigger (Model SAV-2 and use the Red Spring) for a Savage. - No trouble getting a 4 oz. trigger With reliability and plenty of sear engagement as well to preclude slam fires. - Not a BnA or Jewell but pretty good all the same.

I've heard pros and cons on the 10SBA. As mentioned previous, both are production guns, so no guarantees, either make, even less due to the fact they are "specials". Still in the hunt though. Gonna look into upgrades. 10fcp? 5r ?
Dicks, has a special order catalogue, that I can get anything from. I have a respectable gift card to use. !

Well guys, the personal debate is over. I bit the bullet, pardon the pun, and got the 700 ADL, tactical. They had one on stock, in the stock room to boot. I checked it over, looked up the bore, very clean, and shiny. Bolt is smooth, and the fit and finish is surprisingly good, despite the recent press, and hoopla.
Got it home, and ran a patch and jag up the barrel. No rollercoaster, drags, or tight spots. This is the first one of the newer Pro Mark triggers. It has not external adjustment, but for what it is, it is crisp, and clean. Probably around three pounds, but no creep. Bolt lock up is smooth, no scratches or dragging noticed when it cams over, or comes to a rest, and no loose feeling, at the rear of the bolt, when it is locked. Obviously, not been to the range yet, but I have a LEUPOLD 4-12, ready to put on it.
I think I made the right decision. Time will tell, keep ya posted.

Well, getting ready to purchase a new rifle, had my heart set on the 700 ADL, tactical, in 6.5 Creedmore. Got my money right, and have been reading alot about the newer Remmys, and have gotten heart sick about it. Now, I have green blood flowing through my veins. Hmmmm
So, in the same price point, actually, just a little bit higher, is a Savage 10, SBA, also in six five. Any body have any comforting thoughts, suggestions. I'm told the savages shoot, just have to get used to the accu trigger again.
It's very simple, no trigger...no Savage.

I've sent two remingtons back to the factory in the last 6 months,,barrel problems.
I brought this rifle home, ran a tight patch through barrel, felt very smooth, breech to muzzle, several times. Haven't been to range yet, will try to get some free time this weekend.
Another thing I noticed, Iis that the bolt lugs, seem to be very smooth, no dragging, or grinding when locking, and unlocking. Rails are very smooth as well. Overall fit and finish is , to my relief, very good also. This stock, is also a surprise, because it is VERY stiff. It is not like the one that is on the SPS, varmint, which is soft. It is the same design, but seems to be thicker, and WAY more ridgid.
Lastly, the trigger, is not adjustable, from the trigger shoe, but seems to be similar, to the Mike Walker trigger, from years ago. I haven't adjusted it as yet, it is shoot able as it is, which is actually very good. Will have a better idea, after the weekend. Crossing my fingers.

Pirate, how, or what lead you to return it to Remington for barrel work? What were the symtoms?
Just curious!
If this thing shoots well, I may get one like it in .308.!

Well, I've got the rifle put together, scope mounted, squared, barrel cleaned, ( it was filthy). Im cautiously optimistic about it, was looking to shoot it a little today, but rain had another idea. Im committed to it now, and hope it works out, but so far, things that you can usually spot as potential issues aren't there. Bolt is smooth, even contact on lugs, barrel smooth, won't know about chamber til I fire and measure brass.
Crossing my fingers.

Well, to those that may have been following this thread, I finally got a little trigger time this past Monday. Well, mother Nature was not much help, the rain came, and well, that was end at least until the weather cooperates more. I fired it nine times, and cleaned between every round with Kroil only. As I said before, the barrel was already very smooth, one very little tight spot at the very end. Well, that went away on the third round. The extractor worked great, cycling was smooth. Didn't get to do any group shooting, but did adjust trigger when I got home. Also, final cleaned with Bore Tech. Got very LITTLE blue patches from bore. Need to do a little more shoot and clean, then will try some groups. BTW, I'm shooting the Hornady 129 interlock bullets. One final thing, every one of the pieces of brass, are are dead center punched on the primers. So far, so good.

Just a follow up on the progression of this remmy tactical adl. I've been shooting Hornady whitetail ammo, with 129 interlock bullet. Surprisingly accurate, for a hunting class bullet, had a group, after the shoot and clean session , of .5 @100. Shot another group at 200, that had three in a knot, 4,5, went a little wide, total of 1.5 inches.
Bought a box of 129, SST,and a box of 120, Noslers. I have access to H4350, 17, so I've got a few tools to work with o see what it will do. Also have a box of Hornady Match, ammo, 120 ELD. Hopefully will be able get some info with these options.
