savage 10 fp tactical stock

Go with one of the Sharpshooter Supply tactical style stocks. Yes more than $200.00 but the higher price is fair because the inletting is CORRECT,no easy with a SAVAGE) and the stocks come pillar bedded, important with a laminated stock). The two I've used required minimaly sanding before final finishing.

note: butthook and adjusting cheekpiece are optional extras for more money.

Here is a very nice stock for your gun: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=161586

I have one and really like it. I did skim bed it even thugh it has aluminum bedding.

Groundhogsniper23: As you are doing now, I replaced the $2.95 Savage stock on my mdl. 10FP, 223, with Bell&Carlson "Medalist,Tactical". Total cost, delivered was $213 from "Shooters Discount", great people to deal with). This is the stock pictured in "Varmint Hunter" magazine, although I bought the flat black. Dropped right in, heavy barrel clears forend all the way back to the barrel nut. Very satisfied with it: only "complaint" might be the high cheekpiece: difficult when using the bore guide & cleaning rod: minimal clearance. Am so impressed with it though, recently bought another, virtual twin) for one of my Rem. 700s'. Excellent, drop-in fit, same as the Savage.:)

bill, what his waiting time on a stock? my buddy got his f-class stock from him and he loves it. i think it took like 10 or so weeks i think.

I think its in the 10-12 week time frame is about right. I used to get them in 2 or 3, but demand for his stocks went way up the past two or three years.

If you buy the "Money Saver" and finish it yourself you might be able get one faster...dunno. You' need to call and ask that the lead time in on those. All mine were unfinished......I'm CHEAP!!!!

groundhogsniper23: I just checked, "Shootersdiscount" has the B&C Medalist/Tactical in stock, and the price remains $201, w/ approx. $12 shipping. They are located in Summit MS.

the medalist won't fit anything but a 4.125 action spacing, as flopduster was saying. have you looked at the choate ultimate varminter? it has a full aluminum bedding block and they have one that will fit the new centerfeed.and they are around 200 bucks. cliffe

yea i seen the choate stock. it's $175 out of midway usa. has anyone used it and how comfortable is it? yea my center to center on my action bolts are 4.250".

I have used a Choate varmint for several years and I like it.. just know that the "rail" doesn't allow a Harris bi-pod to ever get tight and the thumb screw in the butt is too short to use an "L" bi-pod off a bench. The under side is "ridged" and won't ride bags well at all. I have overcome these limitations but you should know them before you buy. Also the aluminum blocks are the "V" style, I haven't had any problems but my smith hates them. OH.. one more thing, the Varmint stock has aluminum all the way out under the barrel and the Supper Sniper does not.

hey, that choate tactical looks pretty good, when did that come out? and right after i buy a ultimate varminter, darn it.now choate has another stock out for the new centerfeed and bell and carlson still got nothing.i think bell and carlson would want to drill the hole a little further ahead and sell a few more stocks, but must not want the business. cliffe

I still use a harris but I made a new "slide" that has a shorter swivel-stud... and to make that work I had to open the channel up a bit. There is probably a better way, that is just what I did with what I had.

Harris makes an adapter that fits in the rail with a screw to hold it in place and a short swivel stud, I think they cost like $8. Bell & Carlson suppy one with their stocks that have a front rail.
