Sauer 202 barrel removal

Have a beautiful Sauer 202 in 22-250 that has a rifling defect about 3" from the muzzle. Factory will not replace as gun is about 10 years old. My option is to cut and recrown.
Any tricks in removing barrel from action? Have all the tools for Remington/Savage/FN actions.

I BELIEVE that they are removed with an allen wrench. If this barrel has the bolt locking into the barrel, it's an easy off & back on. Google up changing the barrel on a Sauer 202 & there should be a complete how to. I printed off a complete how to for a friend a few years back.

Thanks for the info, will look it up. It is a beautiful wood stock rifle and too bad the rifling is damaged. Condition is 99%. My borescope inspection showed virtually no throat wear, only a damaged section of rifling about 3" back from muzzle.

Have 3 inches removed and recrowned, no one will know but you. It may or should I say will shoot amazing with the missing barrel section for now till you find a replacement.

If I recall correctly, the locking lugs for the bolt are forged into the barrel shank. The barrels are held to the action by a hex head pinch bolt. I'm sure I'm not as learned on these as Jonbearman seems to be.

Not my gun, but will do the machining and re-crowning for a local gun shop customer.
I do a lot of custom barrel cutting and threading for local shops and chambering/fitting for some F-Class shooters but never worked on the Sauer.

escopeta, I could find no drawings of these rifles but, I did find out that I was right about the bolt locking up into the barrel shank.

Read down into the section about the action. Click on the blue highlighted 202.

Thanks for all the help. I did get the barrel off after making a very long 5mm Allen key. Removed about 2 inches of barrel to eliminate the bad spot in the rifling. Also threaded 5/8-24 and built a custom thread protector so barrel fluting would not look ugly on the end.
