Basic Instructions

The Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool provides the method to quickly zero your front sight. If you follow the simple instructions below you can quickly zero the front sight with a minimum amount of effort.

Let’s get started! First ensure that the rear sight is at the mechanical zero or middle of the travel in order to provide the maximum amount of windage once the process has been completed. Next, fire one shot at the center of a safe target at 100 yards. Adjust the rear sight and fire a shot at a safe target until the shot is in the center of the target. Once this is complete the amount of error that the front sight has can be quickly determined by counting the clicks that it takes to return the rear sight back to mechanical zero. For instance, if the rear sight had to be moved 12 clicks to the right, then the front sight will need to be moved the equivalent of 12 clicks to the left. This actual distance can be determined by using the attached chart. For instance, using the same example and using a Redfield Palma sight, the front sight needs moved the equivalent of 12 clicks or 12 x 0.002” = 0.024” to the left. This is accomplished by mounting the Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool to the barrel and placing the indicator on the front sight ladder or flat surface of the sight above the barrel. Once the tool is mounted and tightened with the indicator depressed, the dial can be set on zero. The front sight can then be loosened and moved 0.024” as indicated on the dial. This will be a very small movement but can easily be seen on the dial. Once the movement has been completed and the front sight is secured, the alignment tool can be removed. Return the rear sight to mechanical zero and the sighting in process is complete. A verification shot at a safe target is always recommended to ensure that sight was moved in the proper direction and confirms the simplicity of sighting in with the Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool.

Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool
Basic Instructions
The Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool is a tool to quickly align, windage wise) clamp on, ladder or other adjustable front sights with the windage zero you desire for your rear sight. If you follow the simple instructions below you can quickly align your front sight with your rear sight with a minimum amount of effort.
Let’s get started! First ensure that the windage of the rear sight is at the zero you desire. For most shooters this is middle of travel in order to provide the maximum amount of windage each way once the process has been completed. Once you do this, set your windage scale to zero. Next, fire one shot at the center of a safe target, the distance to your target does not matter but we recommend 100 yds). Adjust the rear sight windage as necessary, repeat firing and adjusting your windage until your point of impact, for windage) is the center of the target. Once this is complete the amount of windage error that the front sight has can be quickly determined by counting the amount of clicks that it
takes to return the rear sight back to zero,on your windage scale). For instance, if the rear sight has to be moved 12 clicks to the right to come back to zero, then the front sight will need to be moved the equivalent of 12 clicks to the right. This actual distance can be determined by using the attached chart. For instance, using the same example and using a Redfield Palma sight, the front sight needs moved the equivalent of 12 clicks or 12 x 0.002” = 0.024” to the right. This is accomplished by mounting the Satern Front Sight Alignment Tool to the barrel and placing the indicator on the front sight at a height approximately even with the center of the aperture of the front sight. A verification shot at a safe target is always recommended to ensure that the front sight was
moved in the proper direction and to confirm that your windage zero is correct.
