There is an estate sale with 5 of these for sale. All stock as best I can tell. No idea of the bore condition. This guy was serious collector. What's fair? He also has several 20 VarTargs. That caliber I do miss.
Looks like he has lots of Brass for them too.

I've had a couple of Vixen .222s for a long time. Excellent and accurate rifles. I have no idea on price today, but I'd look at Gunbroker completed auctions and/or the Sako forum.

Over 250 guns! That's Oprah money. It's an auction, it's also 4 hours away so unless I can get 2 or 3, it's not worth my time. It would be something I'd get for the Grandkids to shoot.

Why make this into a big deal it's an auction, you bid till it doesn't make sense for you. It's not like you have much control at an auction, you can only control how high you bid, not the others that think they know more than they do.

I have a Sako L461 I rebarreled to 17 FB. I would take another couple L461 in a heartbeat to build on.

I once owned a Sako L46 in .222 Rem. Very well built rifle. Only thing was it had a rate-of-twist of 1-in-16".

There is one that's listed as HB. preview is the day before so I'm just gunna hope for the best. 20 VarTarg, 222, and a 223 are of interest to me. Unfortunately no twist rates are listed. I'll see if I can snag some pics

Vixen means Deluxe. It is just a designation of better grade of the rifle. What you need to identify is what Model you are looking at:
L46 "Riihimaki (1940-1960) - removable magazine (if you need a replacement mag is +$200)
L461 (1961 - 1980) - hinged floorplate with internal mag.
A1 (1981-) - hinged floor plate with internal mag

* Dates are just to give you generic timeline, there is more detailed delineation with some overlap... but this gives you general idea.

L46 Riihimaki Deluxe is a delight with it high gloss finish and etching on the magazine floorplate (spruce leaves and cone or maybe a fox head).

L461 are more desirable (no more worry about loosing the magazine and improved design of the bolt shroud.

Some rifles were upgraded by the owners with a Canjar trigger.

I have a early 60's, I believe 1962 L461 .222, has some handling marks but it is my favorite varmint rifle.
got it for 700.00 with the factory rings and a Fixed 12X Leupold. Didnt know what it was worth when i purchased it and didnt think much of it till I started hunting with it.

I’d be all over the blonde stocked one. I’ve had a couple Sako 222s through the years, but not one that nice.

I have two. Both Riihimaki L-46 Vixens. One with Canjar trigger, original barrel as well as a Lilja .222 barrel currently mounted. The other with Lilja barrel mounted, too. Including Sako detachable rear sights and Sako magazines. Really nice rifles.
