Thanks for the links to the very informative articles on the 457 action Grey Kiwi! Though I've been a long-time admirer of CZ's 22RF rifles, I didn't purchase my 1st one until they released the 457 series, and I now own three of them - American, Varmint MTR, and Varmint Precision Trainer. Since I'm a ffl dealer, I also bought two Americans & a Varmint for re-sale, and kept the American with the nicest stock....which may have been a mistake, as its accuracy was definitely sub-par. The Varmint MTR shot very decently right out of the box, while the VPT's bbl had some issues that convinced me to replace it - as I did with the American - by buying Shilen ratchet rifled, select match blanks that I machined & chambered myself with an Eley EPS reamer. The resulting improvement in accuracy with the Shilen barrels have turned the American & VPT into two of my favorite 22RF rifles, even though I also own several Vudoo V22s (both repeaters & single shots), and a Zermatt RimX.
I wouldn't have gone to the effort & expense of re-barreling two of my 457s if it weren't for the attractive features of this action, most certainly including the fully adjustable triggers, the same sort of bolt stop as my custom action CF rifles have, and the attractive steel trigger guard, which is a big step up in appearance from the older stamped steel guards of the previous 452/455 actions. I also appreciate how attractive the Turkish walnut stock of my American is, even though it's no where near as nice as some that I've seen photos of over on RFC, where there are a large number of CZ fans among the forum members.
At the same time (early 2017) that I was buying these CZs, I was also very interested in the Tikka T1x, as the vast majority of owners of the Tikka raved about the accuracy of their new rifles, while the factory bbl of my American was no where near as accurate as I'd hoped for. No doubt building several custom 22RF rifles - including ones based on Stiller 2500XR and CMP Rem 40X actions - had spoiled me where accuracy expectations were concerned. But I still can't help but thoroughly enjoy shooting my CZ 457s. The CZ actions are robust & reliable - I've never had any sort of an issue with how well they feed, fire, extract, and eject - and the triggers are excellent IMHO, easily adjusted for a clean, crisp break at 1lb or slightly under. So by the time the Tikka 22 became a little easier to find, I'd decided I didn't really need one.
I've purchased several scope rails for my 457s from Triggers by BScar - a retired CNC machinist who has designed & built some very fine adjustable custom triggers for both the 455 & 457 - along with these scope rails, which are available with 0 or 25 MOA slope, as well as standard or extended lengths.
