Sako L61R Barrel Tenon Pics

Sniperhandle

Silver $$ Contributor
Hello,

I am looking for barrel tenon pics for a Sako L61R particularly the very Early ones. I have one of the earliest examples with a very low serial number, But I only have the action. I do not have a barrel, Although I am sure I could figure it out, A pic would be nice if anybody happens to have one, Especially of the Tenon Face, I believe they have a relief cut of some kind that the later models don't have. Thanks, SH

Don't thank me, we need to thank who originally put the book together but I don't know who created it. Trinidad School of Trades. There is a link to download where all the snipers like to hang out. Just google "Barrel shank PDF".

I to am putting a Barrel on a L61R Sako. Does anyone know why Sako used a 16 thread per inch thread instead of a metric one?
As far as I know, It is actually a metric thread, It's just very close to 16tpi so most gunsmiths just thread them 16tpi. Kind of like most gunsmiths thread Mauser's with 60 degree threads, I Thread them the way they were designed with 55 degree Whitworth threads.

16 tpi would be 1.5875 mm . What metric thread would that be? 1.6mm? Not very common. 1.5mm? Looks too far off for that.

If you are poking fun at my internet handle, That was one of my first inventions that I did, It was a removable carry handle for Long Range Rifles that I never did Patent or Market.

I am not too sure on that Gene, That is what I was told by a Gunsmith I knew a long time ago. Someone who knows for sure will chime in soon I'm sure.
