sako extractor or new bolt?

I have an XR-100 action with a .473 bolt face and am thinking of building a 6PPC on it. I've heard that a sako extractor on the .473 face will work for the PPC but was wondering how reliable it is if it will for sure work. Or, would I be better off getting a PTG bolt with the PPC face? just curious of others views on it. thx

One of the several reasons to use a custom action. When you start adding up the cost to do it right, with a factory action, the customs don't seem nearly so high...but it'll work.--Mike

I used a Rem 700 with a .473 BF as an IBS Varmint Hunter rifle for 2 years. It was chambered in 6PPC. I never had a failure to extract a fired case. If you decide to go with a Sako type extractor, the installer should be able to configure it to pull either size case head.

I have a Borden action with a sako extractor that is set up to pull a 6BR and a PPC and it works just fine. Paul. 8)

I have 2 Rem 700 customs, one a old 6ppc BR rifle and a newer 20ppc custom. Both with the 473 boltface and both of them extract perfectly. Pretty much a no risk mod if done by a competent smith.

Hey DocEd and CMJR, do I understand you correctly? You used the remington extractor with the .473 and it worked great for the PPC? If so thats great, just what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the replies guys. Thats whats makes this place so GREAT!!
