Sako A1 6PPC repeater value?

I've got a chance to purchase a like new Sako A1 6ppc repeater. Bore looks unfired. A few safe dings. Came from a large collection of a guy that didn't shoot much.

Barrel is 22" give or take and over 0.600" at the muzzle. Metal bottom metal, walnut checkered factory stock.

They are asking $1,200.

Only thing I would der is barrel isn't marked above wood. Marked 6ppc below wood, but haven't inspected under wood. Sako butt plate, and composite follower.

Wondering if this is a good price.

That was my only concern about it. While I'm not a Sako expert, I was under the impression that they were fairly well marked. Not sure why its in little print and chamber mark is about 66% below the wood. I should have taken some photos.

Hopefully some member who has a factory barreled Sako will post a picture of factory markings. Could be a rechamber or a complete rebarrel. What markings were on the receiver? I’m thinking Sako marked the receivers either 6PPC or 22PPC for these two calibers.

Did SAKO make a repeater in the PPC cases ? I thought they were all single shots.

I had a Sako 6PPC repeater in the late 80's. Have regretted selling since the day it went away. They called it the Hunter and it was fairly light weight. Mine had all markings on barrel above wood just like the single shot I still have. The repeater was a very accurate and attractive rifle......$1200 would be a bargain if original.

I paid 1500 for mine. It came with components, dies, etc. So, yeah if they had screwed the bbl on correctly, it would be worth 1200 in my mind

I have a 6PPC and a 22PPC in my safe, I’ll take some pics that you can use as a reference, be back in minute or three.

The 6PPC inscription is right in the edge of the stock, the 22PPC inscription is barely covered by some of the stock.

1200.00 is a great price if it’s a factory repeater in good shape. If you don’t want it I have a brother who would be glad to take your spot. Lol.

Good luck, if you want anymore pics just ask. Thanks.

The one I have, the receiver is roll marked PPC. The barrel is custom, but it’s chambered for 6mmPPC USA as it’s not a tight neck chamber.

I will try and get some photos. I didn't see that the barrel was marked Sako anywhere. Otherwise looked just like the one above. PPC wasn't marked on the action, but was a Sako A1 and SN.

It's to bad, the rest of the gun is very nice.
If you know it shoots and that it feeds reliably it still would be a fun rifle to play around with.

I have few Sako 75 customs, a dasher, 20 PPC, and a 6BR, they all feed flawlessly. The 75 has the mag that attaches to floor plate. I don’t know if that AI would feed a PPC case.

Just got some photos. Looks like a re-barrel to me.View attachment 1328717
That serial number was manufactured in 1985 if there is another digit after the nine. Sako did not make the PPC until 1987. The stamp change from L461 to A1 occurred at serial number 156xxx. The 6PPC started with serial no. A-001 to C-180. The 22PPC numbered from A-001 to A-553, made 1987-1988. Both were made in repeater and single shot versions. Sako later added the S491 and M75 ll in these calibers. Not a factory rifle for sure.

The 6PPC inscription is right in the edge of the stock, the 22PPC inscription is barely covered by some of the stock.

I’ve used that line on my wife. Just insert friend or your cousin. ;) Some did actually make it to the friend or cousin. Some didn’t! I wish I had a brother that was into shooting!
