Sako 22ppc

Can you buy a 22 or 6 PPC in a factory rifle today.

Haven't seen one in a long time.

Heres mine, its one of my favorite calling rifles. Its a 6PPC sporter reapeater, I hope i find one in 22 PPC someday. This rifle isnt picky and shoots 60-80 grain bullets touching all day long.

You can find the Sakos on Gunbroker now and again. Most of them are the heavy barrel single shots, great rifles. I've seen them go for a grand or less but most of the time they run around 1500.00 - the Older heavy barrels have a hole in the trigger gaurd that you can use to set the trigger. Pretty neat rifles.

The best dies for those rifles are redding 6ppc usa. I always liked the competition series. I wore a 6ppc heavy barrel out back when you could still get em. Wish i could get one of those sporter models in 22 or 6

That is a bucket list gun for me, nak. Beauty, shame to cover up that stock w tape, but we understand, it being a working rifle. I like your scope selection too. 6x42 leupold is hard to beat.

I've got a NIB 6PPC Sako single shot that came out of an estate that a friend disposed of for the widow. Bought Forster dies for it, and still had some Norma 6PPC USA brass that I'd bought years ago. Even put a new Leupold 6-18x40 scope in the factory rings - but have never taken it out to shoot. Probably never will... Have a friend who's been lusting after it since I took it to our club's annual gun show a few years ago, I'm quite sure he wouldn't have any hesitation to shooting it if I decided to sell it to him. Been looking at Gun Broker to try to come up with a fair price, but you don't see many of these rifles come up for sale. Would doing a search for completed auctions do any good in this regard?

ETA - I've done almost the same thing that msalm did with a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel - only I chambered a 6mm/1-8tw Bartlein in light Palma contour for 6RAT - essentially a mini-Dasher. Got McMillan to do a Sako Varmint stock in desert ambush for this rifle, finished the bbl at 24", and have enjoyed shooting it out to 600yds.

I've watched these rifles for a long time on the classifieds here. They seem to set forever at $1500+ until guys drop them to $1200-$1300, then they sell. If you have the box and paperwork maybe a little more.

I think that gun could sell for $1500-1800 (w/o scope) if it has nice wood and it's truly like new condition and you're willing to wait a bit. I had the chance to buy one that was unfired and I passed on that one since I saw no point in shooting up a "new" and collectible gun.

There are collectors of Sako specifically but those guys seem to wander between scoring pawn shop or estate finds and not paying top GB dollars. But sometimes they will pony up and set a market price. That said, there are some on GB that still haven't sold and I've been watching them for months.

I bought a 6PPC A1 in December for $1250. The wood is good but not remarkable. It had 200rd when I got it and I have put close to 300rd more on it already. I'm neck sizing with a Lee collet die, running Sako brass, seating with a Redding mic die, H322 powder, and shooting 65-70gr Bergers and Sierras to find the best combination. I don't want to jinx it or get accused of Internet exaggeration but my load development suggests consistent 1/4" groups are possible. Too much fun.
