If you go to the Harrisburg Sportsmen show This weekend through next, you can see all the Safes at one time. Couple of big dealers there. Next weekend they make big deals because they don't want to load and take home. Look up the Great American outdoor show. Matt

Last year they had a safe there that you could setup an apartment inside it was so huge...lol...a house has to be built around it. It was pretty awesome.

a number of the brand safes (browning etc) are made by Liberty. 1200f 1 hr in open and multiple of that if you back it up to a concrete wall or a higher multiple if you put it in a corner with two sides against concrete walls. consider where you live and how long it would take for the fire department to get there, if you have a basement put it there as heat rises and that is the last place to burn in most cases.

I have two Liberty, they weigh near 1000 or more and never had a worry. be sure to buy the dehumidifier plug for them and plug in, they will never have more than 20-30% moisture in them.

I bought a used commercial double door Diebold safe, weight is 1200lbs. I customized the interior with stand-offs made of wood and felt lined them put a golden rod and a hygrometer inside, one of my most prized possessions. I called Diebold and was advised that the safe was worth around $3500. Used on E-bay I scored it for $400.

Whatever safe you get, be sure it has a Sargent & Greenleaf dial combination lock ( http://www.sargentandgreenleaf.com/MN-mechCombo.php ).

That is what we used on our classified materials safes and they have NO batteries to go down. It is what I have on my safes.
