Agreed. Lane Buxton gets the credit.
I remember talking to Jerry (and Barbara) at a match, and he said that moving close to the Sac'to range was part of his retirement strategy. It sure paid off, because Jerry was usually the competitor to beat. We are diminished. I'm sorry he left the range too soon.
I remember too showing up for one of the first F-Class matches they held, alongside (as it was originally intended) the Palma match shooters. Lonnie Kuhns was running the match that day, and was making the usual pre-match announcements, including "The F-Class shooters will be squadded together on the right-side firing line positions. The shooters who still have muscles to hold up their rifles will be squadded together on the left side." That was a zinger.
Sacramento Valley Shooting Center is one of the finest ranges I have ever visited, and well worth the trip if you've not been there before.
