Users, Looking for your thoughts on using the SAC Modular Sizing Die.

Body Sizing, Shoulder Bump, and Neck Sizing?

Are you happy with it, the set up and sizing results. easy to set-up?

What are your thoughts Pro's and Con's.

Thanks

I have a 6MM BRA - thinking about getting and using this Die

I have the BRA die, it is by far the best die I've ever had. Super slick die. It matches my #1 Wheeler reamer perfect. I can bump my brass 1thou back, and it drops in perfect in my barrel, when you have it off. The neck shoulder bushings don't size all the way down the neck. About 20 thou left un sized, they say it helps line the case neck up in the chamber.
Edit: I use it without the mandrel in place.

I use them for the 6.5 PRC and 284 Win. I am very happy with the consistency on shoulder bump with them. They are far more consistent for me than any other dies I've used. I think its because of the high quality polish and coating which are super slick and as a result, you dont develop strain between the case body and die and all of the force goes to the shoulder during case forming. I also like the ability to change bushings and use one die body for the 6.5 and 6.5-7 PRC.

I have found using the shims to trim shoulder bump to be a bit of a pain. I like the idea behind the Cortina die a lot better for their micrometer adjustment of shoulder bump.

The decapping stem on my 284 die is too short and decaps about 75% of the time. I need to pick the primer out with my finger nail on the rest. That's disappointing, especially for the price!

I also spent a chunk of change ordering, returning, re-ordering and returning expander mandrels for the SAC dies. Different sizes need different collets and I was not aware when ordering. SAC has been tough to get ahold of and a little slow on the customer support but I have it worked out after a couple order-return-reorder scenarios.

I am not sure I would like it better but if I were starting over, I would try the Cortina die first in hopes that the micrometer shoulder bump system made fine tweaks easier.

I have the SAC die. I purchased it to size both 6GT and 25GT. Were it not for the addition of the 25cal, I would probably not have switched. It does deliver slightly more consistent sizing than the RCBS Matchmaster die I was using before (The RCBS die was very good). I am running on an autodrive so I decap and run mandrels separate from the sizing. The decapping rod is removed from the die and I adjust the die by rotating in the lock ring. I am not willing to mess around with those paper thin shims. The brass does feed very well in my rifle. Overall it is a good die. I really like the integrated shoulder on the bushing.

I am strongly considering ordering the Cortina die to try. I like the look of that adjustment system better.

I use mine for 6GT, 22GT, another for 6.5x47, 6x47, 25x47, 22x47, and yet another 6.5 PRC and 22-6.5PRC. Expensive? Yes. Would I buy them again? Yes. I use those dies when I’m necking a cartridge up or down, switch out the bushings and you’re good to go. Like the 6.5x47 die, I can use that one die for four rifles, you can do that with any bushing die I know but I do think the SAC does a great job at it. Their bushings have less run out than most of the other bushing I’ve used. I think it’s a great product.

Easy to use and set up.

I have the 6.5 PRC and can load a hunting rifle with it or change to 7mm bushing and mandrel for 6.5-7 PRCW. I tried two other "match" full length dies prior to buying the SAC die. The SAC die is much more precise and consistent. I found the shims to give me better control than just dialing. I've never found a micrometer top with markings or clicks I could rely on. All that said, their customer service when calling acts like they're being interrupted by dumb questions, and I have to be persistent, but they have always gotten things right after I am.

Im using there standard bushings, what they say is true. improves case runout in every die they tested. Mine went from ES of .003 to .001, and thats the variance in the neck thickness.
