Sabatti bolt action

Was in a shop the other day and noticed a Sabatti 222 . 499.00 . Was looking at the Tikka's , he also had one of these in 222 . With all the talk around here about the Tikka's , the 222 was somewhat tempting . The owner started telling me that the Sabatti was a better shooter than the Tikka's . I told him I had never heard of them and he started telling me they are known for their high end doubles and combo guns . So I asked why the bolt gun was so cheap , he said to open the door for an American market .
So I searched the web , and the little I found on their bolt guns was negative . Mainly being almost impossible to get parts for , as the company seems to not have good service plans for the American market .
So this turned me off , right off the bat .
But am curious as to his claim on their accuracy , anyone here have one or know of their accuracy ? Thanks , Kenneth

LOL, Seems I've heard that line before on many sub-standard products brought to America......... Caveat emptor. Buy the Tika and let some other sucker be the Guinea Pig ;)

Tikka + 222 =

Europtic has a couple models of Tikkas in 222 on sale right now. The Tikka Forest is a wood stock with a roll over cheek piece. $619.00 shipped. It was 599.99 but they raised it last week. Excellent price on a known shooter.

As far as the Sabatti I've heard of their bolt actions, good or bad.

I've looked at a Sabatti and it seemed to be nicely made. I don't know if they make their own barrels but Tikka and Sako barrels are excellent for hammer forged units and known for precision.

I'd guess the Tikka has a more rigid action though.

Edit: They do make their own hammer forged barrels. The Sabatti tactical syn looks interesting.

The Tikka T3X is a nice looking rifle . I lie the wood , but like the pistol grip insert of the T3X . If I come across one in 30-06 , it may end up in my hands . The 30-06 is one of my favorite calibers for deer and the 222 and 17 HMR for groundhogs . The couple farms I varmint hunt is hard to get much past 200 yd shots , most 150 or less .
The Tikka in 30-06 is likely to happen before the 222 , but if I eventually get the 06 in a Tikka and turns into true love , the 222 will probally be the next quest .
As said , I won't invest in a rifle that you can't get parts for . So the Sabatti will stay were it is , unless someone else carries it home .
Thanks for the replies , Kenneth

Seems there is another side to this coin too . Just discussed this at another forum and found some people with good things to say about the Sabatti rifle , and one gentleman who owns several says he has had excellent corporation from them concerning parts .
I don't know why there was a couple who claimed they couldn't get parts . But I guess a fellow will find contradictions in about anything .

Just for those of us who'd like to know, what is source for USA parts? Could the respondent to good parts availability possibly be European?

His profile shows Ga. U.S.A , the way his post is written is that he called Sabatti , talked to very nice guy who varified they had the extractor and was asked if he was capable of installation , he assured them he could and received the part in a matter of days .
All I can tell you is what he said .
